IdaSailor Marine offers semi-custom kick up assemblies to fit a variety of sailboats with a shoal draft.  The Unifoil kick-up rudder features our patent pending "one-line" up haul/down haul system, which will raise or lower the rudder with one pull.  This same design can be applied to many different transoms.  A rudder worksheet is used to determine the size of parts to be used based on the boat's dimensions.

HDPE Kick Up Rudder Construction:
  1. IdaSailor's Unifoil Kick-up Rudder offers tremendous advantages in handling and performance. Sailboats will now have a tame helm and customers will look forward to sailing upwind with reduced helm effort and better pointing.  The blade is solid HDPE, with a true NACA airfoil design and offers maximum lift with minimum drag. 
  2. The all-stainless electro polished rudder head is immensely strong and torsionally rigid, with perfect balance and feedback for the helmsman. 
  3. The unifoil kick-up rudder features a "one-line" up haul/down haul system, which will raise or lower the rudder with one pull.  The Patent-Pending design incorporates a 316 Stainless nitrogen charged gas spring for perfect blade control in all situations. The rudder stays down, but if an obstacle is encountered the gas spring allows the rudder to come up quickly, then reset itself to a fully down position. Beaching is now a joy instead of a chore. 
  4. The kick-up rudder rotates through a full 180 degrees, to ease launching and mooring.  World-class in every regard, the unfoil rudder is unrivaled in performance, durability, ease-of-use, and value.
  5. Filling out a rudder worksheet allows the kick-up assembly to adapt to a variety of transoms and makes for a quick installation.
