IdaSailor Marine offers a large line of fixed rudders and is proud to be an approved builder for J-boat rudders.  IdaSailor designs and fabricates fixed and replacement rudder blades in high density polyethylene (HDPE), African Mahogany, or fiberglass.  Pictured below are some examples of IdaSailor rudders and are not limited to the designs below - please inquire for boat specifics.

HDPE rudder construction:

  1. All rudders are CNC shaped and hand-faired to to produce the least amount of drag.  A true NACA airfoil blade is constructed.
  2. IdaSailor rudders use only stainless hardware that is electro polished to prevent corrosion.
  3. Rudders are balanced for reduced helm effort. The high-lift, low-drag foil helps your boat to weather and increases speed off the wind. Docking and tacking are easier and crisper, giving you more control of your boat during low-speed maneuvers.
  4. The HDPE construction option eliminates water absorption and IdaSailor can cover rudders with a lifetime warranty.
Fiberglass cored rudder construction:
  1. All rudders are based on a core of foam or alternating grain of African Mahogany, machined from a solid blank to shape. This method is superior to traditional molding techniques because machining the core allows an extremely strong blank to be produced, with a super accurate shape.
  2. Cores receive fiberglass skins laid-up in Vinlyester resin or Epoxy and are vacuum-bagged. The finish is catalyzed urethane over two-part primer or an optional gel-coat finish.
  3. Carbon-fiber skin is also available at an additional cost.
  4. A one year warranty is extended to the original boat owner. A three year warranty is extended to the original boat owner with the Epoxy Resin option.
